Hello to you. My name is Carlo Mario Chierotti, I live in Italy and I am an Italian translator with nearly 20 years of experience. For several years I worked both as a teacher of Italian language and literature and as a freelance translator, but in 1998 I decided to quit teaching and started working full time as a translator. On 2000 I started my job as webmaster and web developer and now I work half time as a translator and half time as a web developer. I translated many travel guides for the publishing industry, but now I work mostly on medical and scientific stuff. Sometime I also translate subtitles for TV broadcast.
However, my real passion is sport. I love running, cycling, swimming and I am a triathlete. In 2007 I did my fifth Ironman in Lanzarote.

I have to admit that as for now only people who can read Italian can get the best from this web site, particularly if they are not looking for an Italian translator but are in search of information about Athanasius Kircher and his Musurgia Universalis, an encyclopaedic work about music. In the eighth book of Musurgia Universalis Kircher explains (or pretends to explain) a method of mechanical composition called musurgia mirifica. I made a thorough study of the eighth book which resulted in three articles and in my doctoral dissertation at the university. Sooner or later (maybe when I get tired of triathlon) I will manage to translate all this stuff in English. If you already know Kircher's musurgia mirifica you can find the transcription of all the tables he used in his mechanical composition.

Salve a tutti. Il mio nome è Carlo Mario Chierotti. Sono un traduttore (dall'inglese all'italiano) con oltre 15 anni di esperienza. Per parecchi anni ho insegnato lingua e letteratura italiana in una media superiore di Asti, ma nel 1998 ho deciso di lasciare l'insegnamento, dedicandomi alla traduzione. Nel 2000 ho iniziato anche a lavorare come webmaster e sviluppatore per il web. In passato ho tradotto soprattutto guide di viaggi, ma adesso mi dedico soprattutto alla traduzione di testi di argomento medico e informatico. Traduco anche i sottotitoli per la televisione.
In realtà la mia grande passione è lo sport. Sono un triatleta e nel 2007 a Lanzarote ho portato a termine il mio quinto Ironman.
